Ruby can be in any color of
red. It is found in rosy, black and skyline colors also. It is the
second hardest mineral known to exist, surpassed only by diamond.
It is considered to be of superior quality if; It spreads out red rays
in the early morning sun, If immersed in milk 100 times its weight and
red rays breakout in the milk, Throws out the glow of the sun in the
darkness, If rubbed on a stone the stone shows signs of rubbing and the
ruby does not lose its weight in this process.
It is known as the gem of love. It is supposed to drive away ghosts and
dispel sadness. One who wears an unblemished Ruby is blessed with
children, acquires wealth and property and becomes prosperous. The
native occupies a high and respected position in the society and is
protected from fear. It is also believed that Ruby losses its color, if
the wearer is about to become victim of some distress and disaster. It
regains its color when the trouble is averted. It is also said that Ruby
fades its color by being put close to any poisonous substances. The
ancients considered Ruby to be an antidote for poison. It strengthens
neurological tissues around the heart and prevents miscarriages.
